it may help to let people know what type of aircleaner you have as diferent filters require different cleaning method's

as for the BMC, K&N, Holley ect they all have there own cleaning kits, it may pay to buy one that suits your filter

with the K&N filter kits (i dont know if the BMC filters are the same) there is cleaning spray to remove the oil, and then another spray can to reapply the oil...


i just tap mine first, then spray the cleaning stuff on, let it soak, and then wash it off under the tap, with minimal pressure. then wait for it to dry, and then re-oil it. You may need to re-oil it 2 times, but not to heavily

Yeah Johnthe BMC ones should be Ok with the K&N cleaning fluid, are the BMC ones oiled?
The K&N kits come with oit aswell.

It all dependa on where you drive, and how dirty it gets.
I clean my Finer Filter pod every 10000 kays, or sooner if needed.
