XT V8 is arguably a better buy then an XR6. Its faster (14.9 vs 15.8 - 15.5), and well, it has the right amount of cylinders. Not much out there for the SOHC 5.4 that I've seen, everyone seems to be concentrating on the DOHC one.
It doesn't matter what heads they're using steffo you can still put every bolt on from the XR8/GT motor on to the SOHC V8. So there is as much available for the SOHC as there is the DOHC, they are all the same mods!

My son has a XT V8 manual with sports pac/ 17" wheels/ LSD/ XR8 suspention, and apart from the BA quality issuse "and there are some" its a great car, and that 5.4 V8 is a ripper. I have driven a mates XR8, and I think the SOHC is a little bit stronger down low, but the XR has the balls after 3000rpm, so far we have fitted a set of King springs that lowered the car about 15mm and fixed the float without harming the ride, getting a custom twin exhaust soon, so we'll see how it goes after that, You wont be disapointed thats for sure IMO......

Wouldn't you love to say that about your car?You loosers
I love them and would rather one than a Xr6 N/A, but not a 'T' version. Times are around 14.9 for manual and 15.2 for auto but this can be improved easily with exhaust and CAI only. The only thing that lets them down is the 5200 rpm limiter, its a shocker IMO. I have heard that BA series 2 will be bringing a SV8 competitor. At this stage no one knows if that's a SOHC beefed up or the XR8 motor, but it may be worth the wait.
how much would a chip cost to get rid of the limiter? they would be pretty pricey I imagine? But yeah, I suppose if you are going to buy a BA you can afford it tho . Sounds like a very cool combo

I've heared about that. Apparantly its going to be called "XR8 Junior" and be 230kW but I don't know the torque. No bonnet buldge either.. maybe that means SOHC?
