Not on my EA, thank God but on my friends XF they've eaten his rear wheel housing alive? Was wondering how anyone has quelled this 'orrible beast? We scarped it off and repsrayed it, 2 months later it re-appear, albeit smaller? Should we cut the whole bloody lot around it and Niki/ F/Glass the rest?

When you scraped/sanded/grinded the rust off, and had the clean bare metal showing, you should have applied some rust proofer. It is available at K-mart for around $8 in a 330mL bottle.
