Soma AU 220 and 250 kW engines have apparently been known to suffer fuel surge problems when fuel levels are low and when undetaking high cornering loads.
From what I can gather the fix is in the form of a high volume replacement fuel pump for those vehicles.
From my small amount of knowledge, fuel surge is air in the lines, most likely a result of not good pick up in the tank, I do not think that a fuel pump requiring more fuel will fix this problem. If this does happen i would of thought it being not baffled enough in the tank.
I personally have never had the problem in my TS.
I dont think they fit a pump, My T3 had this prob when new they took the pump out did somthing to the pump that fixed the problem,I think It was somthing to do with the pickup and the filter.........

I'm glad to hear that you haven't suffered the problem. The information supplied is contained in a Ford TSB so presumably the engineers there know what they are talking about. Your assumptions that fuel surge can only occur through poor baffling or a misplaced fuel pickup are correct in as much as they are frequent causes but insufficient pump delivery volume or pressure is another (less frequent) cause particularly in lower speed situations such as negotiating roundabouts.

Your are correct in saying that the initial recommended fix is to replace the screen and filter. Pump replacements will only apply to those vehicles exhibiting the symptioms where there is no apparent issue with those items.
I had this problem is my TS50 (T3). Pain in the arse and you could look really silly giving it a bootful and nothing happening until it sucks a big chunk of fuel through, then wham! snap your neck back. Ford replaced pump under warranty, the problem never raised it's head again.
