What year was the first AU XR8 built ?

Do you know of any sites that have info about this.
Like when did the EL end and the AU start.
Is there 1998 EL and 1998 AU XR8 around.

I know of one AU XR8 build date 12/98. Is this one of the first ones released ?

If I can remember correctly August 1998 was the cross over point from EL to AU. There were XR6's from this time and I do believe the XR8 was also released at this time.
My XR6 is a Nov 98 build, Kooky's is an August one I think.

The official change date is 9/1998.

yup, official change is 1/9/98 however the build dates started in August.

My Forte is a July 98 build i believe. I reckon it was the first ever made!

I have an AU V8 Fairmont Ghia with 09/1998 plates. I wouldn't have expected they'd have run V8 Fairmont Ghias of a brand new shape off the line so soon. Outside chance I know but how would I go about finding out if it was (or wasn't) the very first V8 Fairmont Ghia made.
