Is there a known problem with the AU door locking actuators? I couldn't find anything in the forums so maybe I'm just unlucky.

I have had 2 out of the 4 fail recently (just makes a buzzing sound). The small plastic worm shaft inside the electric actuator snapped close to the gear. You can't buy just the shaft. A new actuator is $132 from Ford and presumably has the same weakness. Car is a series 2 and just out of warranty.

Anyone know if the BA has the same door lock actuators?

I don't think you're unlucky, must be a Ford thing? I have a '99 AU and 3 of my doors have gone!! I just laugh when I think about it. The back 2 you can flick a little switch thingy next to the child proof lock but the front one that's stuffed doesn't have it so it just stays unlocked. I'm gonna get a clublock to deter people (if they really do?) and that's it. It's a joke that such a thing can happen on a car that's 5 years old, especially since the back 2 doors are hardly ever used! Even worse in your case! And the price to repair them? I won't embarrass Ford!

They are the same as the BA, and I believe they have been upgraded to AU3 type.
