Does anyone know how to reset the Adaptive Shift Auto's? I had the car serviced recently and the service guy told me that the auto constantly resets itself? Doesn't sound right to me. The previous owner was a more mature driver that drove it real easy. Problem is, when i excelerate at let's say 80 k's, instead of kicking down a gear it basically kicks down a couple (normally first gear!)
Apparently there is a certain sequence of pushing certain buttons..

Alright this is how you change the modes in the auto

Ignition off
Select 1st gear for performance mode (the only one i use) /2nd for econ/ or 3rd for adaptive shift

Turn ignition on to accesories and wait until the airbag waring light goes off
Then move the shifter to Reverse and wait for the econ light to flash 3 times on the lcd display

After the third flash select park and start the car
1 flash of the econ light means a sucessful switch to Performance mode
No econ light means a sucessful switch to adaptive shift mode
Consant econ light means sucessful change to econ mode

Thanks for the reply sylox. Is my car suppose to have a economy/power switch next to the shifter? There's a plate covering where i guess a switch should be. Both the owner and a Ford dealer told me the car had adaptive shift.

No it's not ment to have a power/econ switch its controled the way I told you.

Adaptive shift just learns your driving style, well it trys to. Just lock it into performance mode.

ive never read or heard that so im going to try it i hape it works sounds like a good idea where did you read it
ive only ever read that if you drive hard it goes into sports mode automaticly and if you drive easy its in eccc mode

well im on my second car with adaptive shift and never knew about it
Just took the XR 8 out in power and back in ecc and it s true ive always had it in adaptive only

There is a definate difference in performance mode.

In econ you'll pull out to over take stomp it and it will only go back one gear instead of 2 which gets very annoying

Adaptive shift takes forever to work out what its doing

I keep mine in performance mode 100% of the time now.
After playing around with it, econom is wayyyy to sluggy and adaptive isoonly good for 50% of the time, its meant to adapt but it doesnt always know what your trying to do - so no go there.
Performance mode is good for down gearing as if you just slightly move the pedal down compared to adaptive mode it will down gear instantly - awesome.
Only issue i have with adaptive is that it revs out too much sometimes when your just cruising around, ie more revving out when accelerating as it just keeps wanting to go n go n go.
