Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

didnt the AU's run with ahigher fuel pressure? I think they used a different fuel pump and regulator

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

yeah, ford said they ran 250kpa at idle in an AU and 200Kpa in a EA, which I guess is pretty significant. problem is though that the tank is different therefore the pump and sender unit are different, so i don't know what to do yet anyone know of a aftermarket external pump up to the job?

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

AU pump fits. You have to pull the white slosh baffle out of the EA tank first.
BTW watch out, the intake/output lines are different sides to the E-series ones. The sender seems fairly accurate.

The lower pressure on the EF (180 I *think* ) meant mine overfuelled less.

Just a note on the Smartlock - my NC Smartlock ran the AU computer just fine. No idea what series AU it was though.

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

Hey guys, haven't been on here in years, thought I would finally finish this thread..

The fuel pressure difference didn't have any negative effect. The car worked a treat in the end. But the final touches were;

The temp sender for an AU motor didn't work with the EA/NC gauge.
I wired the gauge and computer in parallel at first, then the computer got no temp reading, and the gauge didn't work, so it ran really rich for first few weeks, melted the Cat Converter. Thats why it was slow.

I fixed the temp reading problem by putting the AU thermostat housing and temp sensor on the AU engine and then ran the gauge separately and the block temp sensor to the computer.

Bashed the insides out of the Cat and hey presto!

Then it went like stink and I crashed it into a pole.

If anyone wants any info. fire away.
