Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

Hmm, that smartlock bypass box sounds interesting. Who did you get that from?

Guys, for anyone else wanting a VCT engine, there is a Fairlane Ghia (I think) at my local wrecker that has been sitting in the yard for months with an un touched VCT engine just waiting to be bought.

I have not asked a price, but they are normally good on price.

eek Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

Hey boys, finally got it started. found the problem the computer must be series 1 and lucky,,?? I had three computers 2 series one computers and nothing worked took it to an auto elec, he tried his mates comp, started straight away. I got another computer and it worked. damn hard work, so it turns out my hundreds of hours trying to find the wiring fault were useless because the wiring was perfect.

I found a Smartlock bypass box at Castlemaine Auto Elecs and it was worth $350.

My car currently doesn't go any faster than the 3.9, heaven knows why? my gearbox (manual) didn't bolt up straight so now the bearings in that are gone. apart from that its fine got everything working apart from Climate and Trip.

I still gonna check the ego sensor wiring and then fuel pressure hopefully that explains the lack of power increase.

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

Is the BBM operating?
I found with mine, it ran very rich and had no power cos it was choking itself. Never found out why though, blew it up first hehe. Using the EF fuel pump helped, believe it or not. I think it was probably either my wiring to something, or the size of the fuel return line (unlikely). When I put it back in I'll be running it off an EF Ghia loom, probably with an EMS 6080 or something so it shouldn't be an issue

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

I didn't think the smartlock bypass modules were available. Was it something they have developed in house? Have you got their phone number?

There is another way around it, you have find the wires for Smartlock and put them all to 12V+ so the computer thinks the car is running 24/7.

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

I'm guessing sphell means you use the smartlock bypass routine (leaving it on for 1/2 hour), but in this case its permanently left "on" due to the new wiring ?

Re: Au motor in the EA SVO

there is an EL XR6 with turbo strapped on it around with the whole smartlock thing sorted, username is pyroay, he may be able to help out in terms of finding someone who can 'bypass' it for alarms.
