Have just brought an au2 wagon at the govt.auction. Need it to tow a 16ft.van around the block. I am a bit pedantic about the auto tranny and would like your thoughts on slapping a transmission cooler out the front. Yes or No!!!!!!. (first post for me).

yes,, bigger is better ,, even if you don't intend to tow it is a must for BTR transmission longtivity

Yes, for sure. I'll be putting one on my XR6 too. After 2 hard runs on the quarter I can feel the changes go sloppy, I'd hate to know what it would feel like towing a 16ft van!

Yes a cooler is a must and IMO should be standard on all Falcons, make sure you get a decent sized one though

YES!! Heat is an excellent way to stuff your auto. My personal preference would be a B & M Supercooler mounted in front of the radiator although any good cooler should do. I used one of these on a daily driver 302 with 2500 converter and never had any problems. A friend bought the gearbox and pulled it down and like new inside.

a trans cooler is a good idea for any car as the added oil capacity helps to keep it cool as well, i prefer to use metal lines to connect the cooler instead of running rubber hoses all the way but you will need a little bit of rubber hose for vibration dampening

The radiator on my EB XR8 (not sure about AU) definitely has a built-in oil cooler and had it standard, I know because I installed the new rad! But the thing is, its the same as on the sixes, so I assume all autos had a cooler standard.
