I have the option to buy a low k series 1 au or is there any major changes in the series 2 that I should go for.

Do they have the same motor ?

Anyone happy / not happy with their series 1 ?

Are they the same model?
Go for the newest one you can afford, assuming they have similar kays and condition.

I have the series 1 and I am very happy with it. In the I6 models and non XR8 V8 models they are basically an identical engine from S1 to S3.
Now, if you have the choice get the Series 2. The better brakes alone make it worth it.

OOhhh i forgot about the brakes Shane, definatelly go the AU2, as you will be looking to upgrape the brakes soon if you buy the AU1.

There auctually was an AU 'update' which came out 30th March 99 which you can read about Here. The AU2's got bigger and better brakes than the AU1, CD player became standard across the range. There are a few other things as well which I can't think of off the top of my head some are styling changes like the high series bonnet was used across the range on AU2(except XR) and clear rear taillights and others mechanical.

I just bought my AU2 for a couple of reasons, 1 being price, good value for money, the other because in my eyes the AU2 looks alot better than the AU1.

It depends on which model your looking at getting, weather it be forte, XR, Fairmont,fairlane? or something else.

The one I am looking at has a feb 2000 maufacters plate.. maybe it has the brake upgrade do you think ?
Looking at the Forte model....would love an xr but $$

I was thinking of getting an XR6 but the EL looked a bit dated compared to AU and I didn't really like the look of AU1 XR's and then the AU2 i thought was a bit out of my price range so I setteled for a Futura but I much prefer the AU3/3 XR's over AU1 XR's.
Now I wish I had bought an AU2 XR6 instead of the car I got now with all the add ons, but ah well, you learn from your mistakes.

I'm happy with my AU1 XR6. Personally I prefer the looks of the AU1 XR's over the AU2/3. I think they tried to square off a curved car and it looks compromised. Of course, thats just my opinion and I would personally love to have the AU2/3 brakes. That alone is a big reason to get the later model.

Yes I was thinking of an EL but the AU looks so much better...
I have $11,000 to spend maybe I could find a low k series 2 or an XR !!

where can I read about the brake upgrade ?

Borrow more money an get an XR ? How much more ?
