AU Thermofan motors

Anyone know where I can get some replacement motors for a set of AU thermofans 9/01?? CHEAP! I can get a complete fan assembly from American Auto Parts for $240 but I suspect its aftermarket. I dont WANT a complete assemble as I already have one that I have spend a considerable aount of time midifying and fitting to my XC Falcon radiator, but I have decided the motors I have arent up to scratch.

Re: AU Thermofan motors

What makes you think the motors aren't up to it? The only issue I have with the AU fans are reliability (one failed on me) but I would imagine that a pair of functioning fans should pull plenty of air to keep an XC cool.

Most issues with thermo fan installations are to do with poor mating of the assembly to the radiator, this reduces the efficiency of the fan unit.

Re: AU Thermofan motors

They arent up to it because they are about to fail. Like yours did! I am 99% sure they came off a taxi. Taxis do at least 100,000 km a year and these fans are 3 years old. One of the motors has DIED, I have to flick start it by hand and it has a lot of bearing noise. Everytime I touch them I get covered in brush dust time after time after time, it is everywhere and when I run the fans I end up chocking on it, so yeah, thats is why I dont reckon they are up to sratch for a car that has had $20,000 spent on it in the past 12 months. Poor sealing between the fan shroud and the radiator core will result in reduced fan efficiency because the fans will suck air in from the side because air follows the path of least resistance.
