What problems have ppl had with these cars that I can look out for?

Anything big or small as I want to get them ironed out as quickly as possible.

I've got an 05/02 AU3 XR6 VCT, and I haven't had a real problem with it yet. Only thing is the brake shudder, but I've been told you really need to go after-market to properly fix it.

Other than that, I heard the AU3s fixed a lot of the earlier minor bugs from the series 1 and 2s, so you should be right!

I haven't noticed any brake shudder so all seems good so far.

One thing I have noticed is the amount of AUs running around with rusty exhausts and mine is the same.

Shouldn't be too many problems at all. Mine's 06/02 build. I'm sure by the stage the series III's came out just about all the problems were sorted, and the last of them had pretty good build quality.

The factory exhausts weren't stainless, so you will get that rust.

What do you mean by rusty exhausts ? By the rear tips ? Or elsewhere.....

I had my XR8 since Aug/Sept '02. 75000 clicks with hardly a issue. BeAUtiful to drive.

They wont replace the exhaust under warranty I dont think... as thats just general wear and tear.

You got power windows? If so keep an eye on the switches. I've had two go under warranty. Trouble is when they go, they just suddenly stop working. Maybe half way down in the rain LOL! But they are a great car!

Being a police car it would more then likely have the 4 power windows, and they can be a problem if the channels arent kept well lubricated.

The inside of the tip is almost gone. Not a lot of meat on it at all.

The resonator is also showing rust as is the cat.
