Sorry bro, but this won't work. Maybe as a temporary measure it'll stop the water that's coming from the engine bay side, but these panels you're looking at are not the actual panels that need to be sealed, it's the ones just behind them. I've tried different things on separate occassions, even removing the guards to seal from the outside, and none of them have worked. I know it's a pain in the @$$ but you'll have to pull the dash out to do it properly. If you wanna try the panels you mention go for it and see if the leak stops. you've got nothing to loose anyway...

I'm affraid that's correct. You'll have to take the car back to where you bought it from, but if I were you I'd call them first and them about what's covered by that warranty and what's not, and maybe save yourself the trip.cheers

Re: AU3 water leak inside car !!!

i have to agree with mark on this one there's no short way to finding a water leak then to strip whatever is in front of it to determine exactly where its coming from.

Re: AU3 water leak inside car !!!

One of my mates had a similar problem with his VP commodoore. I forget how or why, but water was getting into the airconditioning system. It was sitting there, and when he took off, the water would come out, only through the foot heater vents though. I was just reading and it reminded me of this, but it could be different with Fords, as they are built better than Holdens...

What you describe is a different problem. that happens when the drain pipe from the heater box is blocked, and water accumulates inside it until it finally comes out through the foot vents, usually when taking off or turning. Happens on Fords too. cheers

Re: AU3 water leak inside car !!!

Hi Guys, thanks for the input.Sorry about the delay in updating. I finally spoke to the sales guy who sold me the car about the problem and he agreed to arrange for the service dept to look at the problem on my next visit.Since that day of the heavy rain and after washing the car there has been no leaks except if you put the hose on the fire wall.So i will take the car back during my next break from work and i hope the leak will be covered under the warranty.
Steve.

Re: AU3 water leak inside car !!!

Seeing backlash offered, how exactly does one go about removing the dash/glovebox etc etc :) :) I have removed the dash out of my '68 XT Fairmont to repair the odometer in the speedo & if it anything like as hard as that then I will be paying someone to do it :( Any help at all would be great. Cheers all

PS I have a Series 3 AU SR with the exact problem as mentioned above so any help would be great. Cheers all

Re: AU3 water leak inside car !!!

I have taken the car back twice to the dealer for the problem with not much luck. They tell me that the water is dripping from above the fan unit but they can not locate the source of the leak. Now they want me to book the car in again so they can remove the dash and try locate the problem.Due to there workmanship i really don't want them to touch the dash but i don't have much choice.
In regards to removing the dash it can be abitch of a job so you need to refer to a service manual like Gregory's if DIY or a panel beater.
