Are AUII's likely to have issues with Dif?

I am thinking of buying a Ford Falcon FUTURA AU II 2000 Rear Wheel Drive White, WAGON 4ltr DUAL
FUEL AUTOMATIC, 226757kms, but have heard that AU's have issues with Dif's. What have other owner's experienced?

Re: Are AUII's likely to have issues with Dif?

Hi
From what I remember of the AU days, only the LSD diffs caused dramas and we had to put friction additives in almost every single one of them, so unless your car has one of these fitted you shouldn't have any major problems, and this is something that you yourself can assess with a road test and an oil check. If it's noisey in any way or the oil looks black and/or with metal particles in it stay away from it. In a car with that many kms and running on dual fuel I'd probably be more concerned with the top of the engine and the gearbox. cheers
