Re: AUII V8 Injection Multipoint or Not?
AUII V8 Injection Multipoint or Not?
Yesterday I put a deposit down on an AUII Fairmont Ghia 5.0 V8, built 11/2000. Today I set about organising insurance.
NRMA Insurance think two V8s were available, one with multipoint fuel injection, one without. This impacts on the insurance costs.
This is a surprise to me. The only V8's I can find mentioned anywere are standard (175kW - which I assumed I've got), XR8 sedan to April 2001 (200kW), XR8 sedan from May 2001 (220kW), and XR8 ute to Feb 01 (185kW). I did not think any of the Tickford V8 motors ever found there way into the Ghia.
Anybody know how I can tell what I've got, and whether its multipoint or not?
As NRMA staff I can confirm that most of the errors with incorrect vehicle info tend to be due to the people you'd deal with over the phones or at an office. There is a duplicate record on the vehicle database for a fairmont ghia in MPFI and in SPFI. The duplicate record is for a 75th Anniversary Fairmont. A quick look at the online quoting system will show u that.
I can definately say there would be more than one model on our system that would be needing some updated info.
Despite the branch and call centre staff, the two main guys in the underwriting team are really cluey guys. One's part of the FJ Holden club I think and another is heavily into the superbikes amongst other things. If you ever got a chance to speak to one of them in place of the normal, say call centre staff, you'd probably find you'd be pleasantly suprised and not have to explain what u were saying you did to ur car in two year old talk. They're both car enthusiasts/mechanics themselves and not just corporate ladder climbers with fancy degrees and no mechanical experience. Unfortunately the "public" don't deal with these guys as they're a referral for "frontline" staff that can't answer questions that guys here may put to them.
