I've got an AU3 XR6 that's under 3 years old. Yesterday I noticed a small S flash up on the dash, and this morning the car won't start (has the hand over the car symbol on the dash as well now). My owners manual is packed in storage (Because Im an idiot) so is anyone able to give me a quick rundown on what these symbols mean?
Thanks.

The s inside the circle indicates speed alarm is on.
Flashing red hand when key is off indicates car has stereo tht is code protected.
I don't think either indicate your fault.

How the beep did I turn the speed alarm on? That was creative of me. Thanks blueblood.

S=speed alert you have set as for car in hand symbol this the smartshield sign
ign on symbol on for 1 sec then off,if it doesn't turn off and remain off and instead starts to flash you have a smartshield problem go to a FORD dealer
to turn speed alert off press and hold the top button (S) on the left side of the steering wheel (audio) this will take you through to the speed alert menu on the dash then press it until it turns off.

Thanks all for your help. Seems that the issue with the car wasn't the car's fault at all - it was a bad batch of fuel. Car sounded really rough for a couple of minutes and then resumed its normal rumble and hsa been running without missing a beat since then. I can only attribute this to a bad cycle of fuel - unless anyone can offer me any other theories?
PS Ta scruba, speed alarm is now off and I feel like an idiot!

Thats really strange.
I got the exact same problem yesterday on my way down the freeway. Started flashing, makes three beeps when it goes past 20km/h. looked in the manual, saw that the flashing S was for the speed limiter. At first I think it was limp home mode, but it performs as usual, nothing wrong with it except for the annoying beeps and flashing

But I dont have a speed limiter fitted!
its not a limiter. It just warns when you go over a preset speed.
