You guys heard of this before?

I checked my reservoir and it looked like a cappacino. Had froth and everything... except no drinking chocolate sprinkles...

I took her my Foed guys and they said the ghias have an auto transmission oil cooler, and it passes through the radiator and a seal musta popped allowing the tranny oil into the engine cooling system...

wtf?

Yes that is correct.The oil cooler in the radiator is leaking.Hopefully the coolant hasn't got to the transmission

Service manager said they took the plate off the trans and there's no coolant in there. He said I was lucky cause if there was they would need the car for a week while the box was sent to Sydney to be rebuilt.

Instead of flushing the radiator, they are completely replacing it... Must be a 1 shot deal with the trans oil cooler...

get an external oil cooler fitted. cant happen again then.

Will consider that after the car runs out of warranty.

I wonder why this car needs a tranny oil cooler? Is it only the ghias or do all BAs have them?

i think pretty much all autos run a cooler as the auto oil gets very hot,
most run through the normal radiator .

external cooler will work much better and extend the life of your auto.

Yep, that's correct. They should run through the radiator AND a remote cooler. Much happier trans.

You guys aren't gunna believe this...

I pick up my car today at 3pm from my ford dealer after they fixed the trans oil in coolant thang... It has new radiator and the guys says I need to come back in a week so he can flush the system...

So I drive her home, 2ks down the road... Give her a tub and at about 9pm, I drive to maccas to meet my mates, about 15ks away. I lift the bonnet to see transmission fluid drips scattered around the engine bay... hmmmm...

I get a maccas napkin and get to cleaning when I noticed where it was coming from. One of the small black hoses from the coolant reservoir that goes to what seems to be the water pump had a small pinhole in it... and it was leaking straight red tranny fluid from it... wtf? Anyhow I thought better get her home... So I'm driving home. Overheat light comes on and the temp is steadily rising, then falling a bit then rising again. I get her in the driveway and the top hose explodes. After letting the danger steam subside I open the bonnet to see the hole in the top hose. Also, there's pink liquid all over the engine bay. And surprisingly, and huge smell of fuel.

I checked the engine oil and it looks fine... Its 11pm now and I've left her in the driveway but I'll be ringing ford tomorrow morning. Any phuking idea what it may be?

I've only had the car 1 day out of 3.
