AV Falcon

Howdy

Just had a perve at the Motor mag at the local newsagent. I had a squizz on the new AV Falcon. When I had a look at the AV Falcon it looks very pretty they certainly have fixed it up in the looks department not to mention all the new internal goodies... Wonder if you can get the new V8 4.6 Mustang donk in it? Should be able to and a manual...

Though when I looked at the XR AV Falcon the front looked wierd. They abandoned the split headlight system (which I thought looked good) and went for a Mercedes 'ish sort of front headlight look. In my opinion it looks damn ugly and the older split light system looked better.

My EA is getting rather long in the tooth now and I think it time I got a new Falcon. I think I'll just be getting a V8 Manual Forte with all the trimmings. Shame they call it the Forte sounds like Panadene 'Forte'. I'll shure to be rip that loathful badge off it. Maybe Ford Falcon GL sounds better as it should or just Ford Falcon, after all it is the base model name. Maybe I should stop moaning now.

Was wondering you opinions on the new AV.... Or if anyone's heard anything new about it....

Long Live the EA!

Grandpa Henry

Having read a thousand mixed opinions on it, I can add a few things:

* I don't know that they are dropping the quad headlight front end
* The base model may not be called Forte

* It is supposed to be available with a 5.4 litre V8, similar to the one available in the new Explorer, Expedition and Excursion.

Re: GT

Those computer generated mock ups that Motor put in their mag are crap! they just added new headlights/grilles to the front of an AU! To my knowledge the XR headlights will be a cross between the 'lowndes mock up' and BMW headlights. Dont give the new XRs a miss just yet grandpa!

Im pretty sure both the 4.6 and 5.4 litre engines will be available in Barra also, but dont quote me.

I dont know if Falcon will do the GTHO, ive heard theyre hesitant to touch a name with so much prestige-they must just leave 'HO' alone and if there is a 310kwatt car theyll call it something else.

I thought I was the only person who thought the base model Falcon should be called just *falcon*, with no poxy 'Forte' or 'GL' badge!

AV Falcon

The new AV falc 6cyl will have a TWIN CAM ( wiv 3 or 4? v heads) and it will pump 180 kw,the ''new'' V8 will be a OHC 5.4 ltr ''modular'' thats MUSTANG motor to us pleps, and i think it will put out about 235/240 kw.

but i still maintain that the EA TO EDseries
FALCONS look the best 4 the money ... ( EF & ELs are too steep 4 me right now).

i think they brought out replicers 2/3 years ago... but the one i sew in the paper... was NEW... still had all the same styling... but it just looked more streamlined... with the 5.4 V8 i think....
