CSV_LS1, a roof is not easy to change once the car has been built. Much easier to stick to bolt-on panels. Carbon fibre doors are a possibility, used on Porsche racers, but I wouldn’t want to take a set to the supermarket carpark!

Re: BA carbon fibre bonnet & more...

Great idea. As Mr Sparkles suggusted I would consider using these in the event of damage caused to the existing panels. If I actually raced the car I would consider buying them regardless.

Exactly!!! If racing, a definite YES! But for street use...ermm...I've heard stories from my friends who drive Hondas and Nissan's with carbon fibre bonnets that if you get hit by bird poo and you decide to let it sit in for a while, the damage can be quite extensive. In fact, it's worse than the normal painted surfaces.

But on another note, what are the benefits of using carbon fibre on car bodies, other than for weight reduction purposes?

Re: BA carbon fibre bonnet & more...

On non-structural parts like the bonnet:
- looks if you don’t paint it
- brag/wank factor

Of course there are always the c/f supercars like McLaren F1 and actual Formula 1 cars where the benefits are clear – strength/weight ratio.

Re: BA carbon fibre bonnet & more...

Interesting look. You'd think they'd use a blood orange vehicle instead though. Certainly makes the car stand out from the crowd.
