BA Headlight Upgrade

One of the first things I normally do with a new car is increase the headlight wattage. I think it's something to do with getting older and the eyes not being as good as they used to be.

Can anyone tell me if the BA headlights use plastic reflectors and can they handle an increase in globe size.

They use plastic reflectors and have a plastic lense. They are so good why would you bother changing them?

With plastic headlights you'll possibly burn a whole in them if you upgrade the wattage on the globes.
This was the case with my EL & I found the best way was to keep the wattage the same (also keeps them legal) but purchase better globes.

I use the Hella White daylight golbes in my EL & they are advertised as 30% brighter than std. They work a treat & are much brighter than the std Ford globes that came with it (thats if you can get past the $25ea price but you get what you pay for)

cheers.

I am going to fit Philips +50s to my car. Can someone tell me what globe types are used in the lights on the GT/XR series?

My driving lights will be using strobe heads so they're not an issue... he he he

The White 50+ H4 bulbs by Hella, Navra and Osram are all the same bulb, just repackaged. I wouldn't be suprised if the Philips was also.

Liar liar pants on fire. There are two manufacturers of these globes. The one that gets repackaged by numerous others which from memory is made by Osram, and the Philips one. Both are good - it's just the Philips are easier for me to get.

yep agreed I was just speculating about Philips. I got Navra, as it was the cheapest of the osram bulbs.

The globes I have lined up are Philips Vision Plus. Available from Ingrams Auto Elec Wholesalers in Sydney:

St Peters 02 9516 3022
Smthfld 02 9729 0122

The H7s are on order from their melbourne warehouse.
