The guys at Ford are gonna listen to what the majority of forum writers want and if more people keep saying, "throw a blower on the HO", BA II GTHO could be 1900kg + and the predicted 340+ Kw isn't gonna help it get traction! -or go round bends!
I was sussing out the BA XR8 times vs BA GT up to 110 km/h. Nothing in it between them except more wheelspin and smoke from the GT.
Aussie speed limits are 110km. although we all like to give it a big squirt occassinally. But racing other cars over 160k's is begging for a jail sentence these days. Being quick to 110k's is mandatory for a Ho!
I say, play with cam spec's, diff ratios, gear ratio's and get the most of the power ya got first. Remember XY Ho's were mainly remembered for having the best quarter mile (400m) times. Lighten up wherever possible, give priority to ligthening up front end/engine. (I hear alloy donk is on the way.) Only then, would I consider a blower. Remember the legend GTHO III came after the XR,T, W and Y GT's.
I also reckon there'd be a few guys would pay the extra for a lightweight 6 speed clutchless manual with a straightshifter.
How's that sound to the rest of ya?
As long as its in front of the HSV I dont really care........

88 EA Ford Falcon S
5-speed manual
2.5" Redback Exhust
WADE 1004-112 cam
XH Snorke
3.27 LSD
Drop weight, 9psi, Intercooler, Strong Crank, 19's, Brembo's, 12.9 sec pass & all be able to be street driven with ease like the current GT/XR8. Not much to ask is it???
obviously weight is the main issue.....but i think the gearing is a major thing that needs to be addressed. From all the years ive been reading motor/wheels all the fords seem to need an extra shift in all the cructial places, (off the top off my head, 0-100 and 400m mark).
if they want to put a blower on, fine...i also think there should be an option on everything!!
ie. air con and all the other tsuff that you can live without...basically a stripeed out version as well.

as for $120k...no bloody way....i still laugh when i see GTS's running around..isn't the base price like $98k??...i dont think there worth that.
The GT-HO shoudl not be over $100k...once you go over you are in serious competition..which is what this car needs to be about..something that is cheap (in relative terms) and goes just as hard as an M3 or somehting from AMG but just mightn't have the build quality

Send it to Jenny Craig.
Stick in the cams that were considered too uncivilised for the GT.
Better breathing.
An exhaust manifold that works rather than one that just fits.
A pair of decent gearboxes and an intelligent rear axle ratio.
Ok heres my idea GTHO with keeping reality in mind:
Genuine 330-340kw (If it requires a Supercharger to do that than so be it, with intercooler)
6 speed Manual availability
3.73 for auto and 3.91 for manual Differentials
Aerodynamics and stability to attain an unprecedented 260km/h+
Top notch brakes: Brembo's, Alcons or AP Racing
Acceleration Times: under 13 1/4's and 0-100km/h of 5.5 or better
To top it off as FM mentioned street drivability is very important for refinement and to achieve the fastest and top rank 4 door sedan in the world.
Yes it's about time Ford deliver a vehicle that not only match's the HSV range but surpasses them and makes them play catchup.

How about keep the 5.4, ok maybe a bit bigger, but give it a better bore/stroke ratio so the thing can REV! Then the twin cam four valve heads could really do their thing.... somewhere up around 7grand would be good revs! And if they could put variable valve timing on the quad cam...... that thing would be a monster! Oh yeah the block might as well be alloy while we're at it!:)
