Hypothetically speaking, if Ford decide to bring back the HO, then what sort of car should it be? (Remember there will probably be a BA GT-II and GTP-II aswell !)
Personally, I believe we need to look back at what made the Phase III GTHO "the Legend". It was the fastest 4 door production car in the world at the time I believe. It handled really well (compared to a HK, HT, HG monaro) Was quickest down the quarter, and sounded fantastic. At present the Ford guys have only got the last one spot on. (BA GT 's exhaust note)
If it ain't got all the ingredients that made the legend that was the HO, then don't call it a HO!!!
one of the best things about the XY GTHO phase 3 was that it was a 4 door.
it was the fastest 4 door production car in its time....and i say keep it that way...keep it 4 door....coz it can also b used as the family car.
its inconvenient for a family to drive a 2 door car.
most monaro's GTO,GTS coupes are owned by single ppl ..that is why ford are getting big ssales with the GT ..PERFORMANCE AND FAMILY CAR in one.
Mr_GT
ive got to say that i think that alot of that stuff you wish for just wont happen because of cost.. Im sure if ford wanted they could make the ba into the fastest 4door in the world again but the costs would mean that bugger all people in oz could buy it. At least the old ho was semi affordable. Aluminium doors bonnet etc are unlikely i think as are many of the other lightweight bits you dream of. Cost is the killer, esp for such a relatively exclusive vehicle. Id like to see it happen but im sure it wont be to the extent purported to in your poll..
Would love to see a BA Supercar for the road. Lightweight Panels, Supercharged V8 or NA V10 (hey we're all allowed to dream), with a bodykit that looks a deadringer for the supercar. Racing buckets in the front, Maybe a backward facing vent in the bonnet bulge to let the heat out, Double a-arm suspension...
Definitely should aim for fastest 4 door in world territory - we have to relive some former glories What's wrong with 300km/h???
Build it in limited numbers - say 50 a year or so. If holden can take 200 odd orders for their 427 monaro at $250,000, why not sell it for this much? If the product is good enough to be put in to Audi RS8, Merc E55, Jag S Type R, BMW M5 Territory, why not price it with them?
Then take it to Nurburgring and show the Europeans what we are capable of!
