Im after some pics of the IRS setup. Im doing a little investigation into runing a BA xr6t engine driveline and electrics in the EA shell I am working on as a project car at the moment. Ive heard rumours that the IRS from an AU is able to be put into an earlier E-Series car with a few modifications.

I would think that putting in the IRS would be far harder than the XR6T engine itself!! I would be consulting an engineer before I did anything of the sort.. besides.. what's wrong with live axles ???hehehehe

Yeah, Im going to ring an engineer in the next few weeks and get some guidelines etc. Another option also it to use components from an AU in the way of a live axle to keep the traction control.
An AU front end (k frame and suspension) would need to be used for a start.
The biggest hurdle would be to get a written off XR6t anyway.

can i ask the point in setting up running gear of a XR6T in a EA?

the technology is maybe too advenced for a 88-90 EA?

you would spend a whole lot more in buying a writen off XR6T than what an EA is worth..??

i cant see the point.

Well it started out as a project and has since evolved from having a 6 with a 5 speed, a bit of engine work blah blah the usual, then I wanted to put a 302 into it, but recently the idea of a turbo has grown on me. The amount of turboed and supercharged fords that are out there it seems a little boring to just buy a turbo kit and chuck that on. How many EA's would there be out there with traction control, irs, a factory turbo engine... See where im coming from? Yeah id expect the cost of a written off xr to be more than what the ea is worth especially when i bought it for $500
