Something no-one has talked about here I think is that the BA's have no oil or volt gauge as it had on the AU's etc.. The police stopped using fairmont type clusters in the EL model.
Why would these two important gauges be removed from the BA?

Previous threads have established the fact that the oil pressure gauge in the AU was nothing more than an oil warning light in disguise.
As for the volts gauge, unless you drive a pre-Ford era Jaguar, is there any car where this instrument has been really relevant since the 1970's ????
Never had em, don't miss em and please let's not start this argument again.
Cheers

I am curious, what do you mean
"just a warning light in disguise"?
There was a very long thread when photos of the BA interior were released where all the 'purists' were bitching and moaning about the lack of the two extra gauges in the XR cluster.
Someone presented evidence of some sort (it's been a while and I can't remember the exact details), that was corrobirated by a second source showing the the oil 'gauge' in the AU was only some sort of on/off set-up, where it registed normal when okay, but then switched to a low oil reading when the oil light would have come on in the base model cluster.
I've endeavoured to look for the actual thread where this was all played out, but I'll be buggered if I can find it!.
Cheers
Jason

Ok being a member of the AU preservation society i must step in and say that i like my voltage and oil pressure guages. Even if there just for looks which i reckon they do work properly not just a switch.

I would like to see the Oil Pressure and Volt Gauges back too. It is something that HSV have only started doing again. The last Holden to have those extra gauges before the Y-Series HSVs were the VL Group A SS and the SV88.
