constant scraping sound from rear end / rear brakes of car at low speeds.
any ideas anyone....?

On my BA it was the right rear brake pad just scrapping the disc. I mentioned to Ford when I had the front brake shudders, and they fixed it up for me. all is happy.. this very common on the BA.

am experiencing the same problem in my AUIII xr6. Have taken it to City Ford in East Sydney twice..They adjusted the handbrake on both occasions, and it's still there..grrrrrrrr.....very annoying. If I just pull on the handbrake slightly as I drive it stops until I release it again.

Is the noise back yet???

My company BA does it too but I just wind up the window and turn up the stereo.

I have only recently experienced this with my BA ute just after I got it back from a service. After returning it to the dealer who wanted it for another day, I took it home and had a look myself. The handbrake drums are essentially loose (1 small screw) and are only held on by the wheel nuts. Well to my astonishment 4 out of 5 wheel nuts were loose! After going around and tightening up all the wheel nuts the scraping had stopped. There is supposed to be an issue with the BA handbrake shoes but check your wheel nuts first.

Was told by the service guy at Ford that the rear end set up on the BA is not the best...anyway keep your ears open guys.

Good to hear, likewise my nip and tuck on the back brakes of my BA XR8 are still ok.

I would be shooting the goose that didnt tighten that wheel up.

Scraping here as well @#%$#@. 2 times to the dealer still scraping from rear but now only after the discs/pads etc get hot. I suspect the handbrake bizzo as well. Dealer seems to have just let out the handbrake adjustment to get rid of the noise so now you have to pull the handbrake way up to get it to work.

There are dozens of threads on here about the STD brakes. It must be plain to anyone by now that these brakes are not good enough on a car that costs over $40K.

Ford should be getting the OEM supplier to fix all this.
