Anyone (Ford insiders !?!?!?) heard anything lately on the release date ?

I wish i knew. I'm wanting to know myself. I've heard March next year and i've also heard September next year.

Philbie, How confident are you on that ? (10, 50, 90%) Do u have a source or a guess ?

If it is March/April 2004, I will probably wait as I recon the improvements will be worth the wait (ie..weight, 5/6 speed auto...), but if its late next year I'll probably go for a series 1 (Futura).

Saw a dealer this last weekend, and he recons that because there is still such a back-order on Falcon, it "wont be for a quite a while", as Ford would "piss-off" one to many people by delivering them their orders (on Series 1) while releasing a series II.

I heard it will most likely be this time next year from a ford employee.

They can't seriously consider bringing it out early next year as people would still be waiting for series I orders i.e. XR6 Turbos.

On the issue of Series II improvements, will weight loss be on the agenda? Where are they going to shed it from? Surely weight would have been a big factor when designing the BA. Given that they decided to move ahead with a relatively heavier car than the commodore I'd suspect they won't be looking at weight reduction for the series II.

If fact I have just ordered an XR8 and would be extremely p!ssed off if the series two looses 200kgs or so. Actually it would not surprise me if series II is slightly heavier with added features etc.

This is what im afraid of.

I wouldnt want to receive my vehicle after a 5 month wait then have series 2 come out 3 months later.

More than likely it will be third or fourth quarter next year, as for weight reduction it probably won't be any more than 50kgs.

No way will it be that early. Series 2 will be after Territory which will be around June.
