BA .. SIDO stuff.. production schedule etc

I got a SIDO (344887) .... oh, and dealer said regardless of delivery date, I wont cop any price rise (methinks I should get it in writing, but anyway...).

So, right now, my car hasn't been 'retailed' yet... what does that mean? Once it has been retailed (any way of finding out how long til it is?), what happens? How long does the building of the car actually take?

344887 - Mercury Silver N/A XR6 with slippery diff. It exists as a piece of paper only at the moment. From what I can gather the n/a XR6 has also outstripped projected demand by a fair margin so it would be anyones guess when this would be built. Certainly not scheduled for it yet so the dealer couldn't give any better than a guesstimate.

Cheers

Well let's hope they are right. Could well be. However until it is scheduled for build it would have to be a guess.

Cheers

The SIDO status is accessed via the Ford system. Either get friendly with your sales guy (who should be able to give you regular updates) or find a way in yourself.

For most people, it's a case of nagging the dealer constantly until they look like this

Oh, one thing I have been trying to work out. How far ahead of actual production start is a car 'scheduled'? For example, my car is allocated for Jan build (or was) yet it still has no scheduled status - it still shows 'released'.

My brother is p!$$ed at me because the car was meant to be ready for his wedding....... oh well, I'll be able to drink now (naff ruff LOL he he he)

Sorry to tell ya Pete but released only means that it exists on paper. Next step is for it to be scheduled which usually is done 4-6 weeks in advance as far as I know - might be longer or shorter at the moment. Build time (in your case) will depend on options and parts availability but it doesn't take too long. There are various build stages and these can be tracked. Final stage is wholesale when it is invoiced to the dealer and ready to go on the truck. This can also take a few days for obvious reasons. Then you only have to wait for dealer pre delivery and fitment of any dealer fit options and you can drive it away.

Hope this helps to clarify.
