BA vehicles built during January and February 2004 may have been fitted with steering column assemblies that failed to meet specifications. These can lead to a clicking noise form the lower end of the column while turning the wheel.

Only columns manufactured over a 3 week period are suspect but if you experience a clicking sound and your vehicle was built within those date ranges then a trip to your local dealer should resolve the issue.

Some had had it. A guy at work suffered the same problem with his Blueprint N/A. My Phantom Jan 2003 suffered from this problem but Ford knew what it was straight away. Revised unit was there so they proceeded with the installation of the new unit. Definatley get it checked!

Yeah they know about the problem - its fairly common. However when you crack an engine mount and it makes the noise in the same conditions as this fault, it makes it difficult to track down :)

* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")

Mine is a OCT 03 build and its been to the dealer 3 times and I still got the noise? I've pretty much given up on them now as each time its gone to the dealer, they've said that they have definately fixed the problem. Ha ha.

I had the same problem - turned out to be a cracked engine mount - get them to check that next time.
