BA Stereo

Hi Everyone........

This might be a silly question but i have heard that, when you get your car's windows tinted that you have to be careful with what tint you use because of the stereo antena's in the back window, and this interfears with the ECU is this true or are they pulling my leg...............

Re: BA Stereo

I read somewhere that Ford beleive that the metalised type tints will effect reception of the antena.
A tint ing company (can't remember which one), said thay had done testing & had no problems.

If you use the standard tints (only short warranty) there is no metal in the tint material.

The metalised tints usually offer maximum UV protection & life time warranties.

I reckon they may affect AM reception.

Re: BA Stereo

I was told the same thing. I got my window tint done at Ford and apparently it has the whole UV protection thing and so far it seems quite good.

Coz the aerials are in the back window of the BA, it is logical that a metallic tint might interfere with them I guess.

So far the Ford tint (I dunno who they get to do it) has been good re keeping the car cool (its black) and it still looks good too.

Re: BA Stereo

Had mine tinted by the dealer, and I asked that question at the time.

In a previous bonnet-aerial commie, I could only get TripleJ from the Newcastle Frequency (102.1) clearly up to the Gosford turnoff, with patchy reception up to Mooney Mooney.

In the BA it is crystal clear up to Mooney (a bit patchy in the gully) clear again past Mount White and it only starts getting patchy again crossing the Hawkesbury. I even get patchy reception of Newcastle in Sydney. Some days I don't even have to flip to the Sydney JJJ frequency....

I'd say I'm more than happy with the reception with a dealer tint.
