guys be carefull!!! On saturday it was about 35 degrees down hear in Vic and i left the car for about 2 hrs whilst having a perve at the Geelong Speed Trials. when i got back to the car, as the blistering sun had been on the gearknob the whole time through the windscreen, the metal top of the gearknob (standard gearknob) was too hot to touch!! it was seriously too bloody hot to change gears...i kid you not. to change gears for the next 20 minutes i had to use my fingers on the leather(?) bits that wrap around it. from now on im gonna have to put a hat or somthing over it when its that hot again!....geeez if i had of gone for the momo gearknob i wouldve been stuck!!

i have the momo knob on mine and we had a 40 degree day here in perth last week and my car was in the sun for 4 hours.
It was a bit hot but not to bad.
Could still change gears.

haha well i know it sounds a bit whimpy...but (and i know it sounds unbeleivable) it was untouchable for more than a quater of a second!! it was like touching the bottom of a hot pan! hahaha

thats why we have Stubbie Holders !! Just plonk one on the old knob and you have a pre cooled ready for action knob !

Ive had that happen with the standard one in the AUII XR6!! (Incidentally Ive upgraded it recently to the BA XR momo one as well....

Speaking of hot knobs, has anyone else noticed the chrome on top of their Momo wearing away. I didn't think my hands were that scratchy. I believe a tougher finish should have been used - maybe hard chrome or stainless steel. A little leather bootie would be good for the temperature extremes, or maybe a half tennis ball.

Yup noticed this last summer...

I use my sunglass cleaning rag to throw over the top if I remember before I go out in the sun, failing to do that I then use said rag to do my shifts for the next 30 minutes :)
