Just finished washing the falcon on Sat monring, took it for the manditory Cruuze After Wash, wheels were a bit wet, turn the traction control off to 'dry' them... not a burnout, just sliped the rears at take off... up to 5000rpm, hit second. BANG. CRUNCH, GRIND, crunch, grind, grind, grind...
Completly sheared the gears off the spline (did it get that right?).
Whole new axle on the way. Sheee-it.
(I dont like my ford on the back of a truck. Lucky the local ford dealer was just down the road)

The BA Axles are PISS WEAK!! i hate the bloody things! Too many problems with the ass end on these babies and Ford knows it.
Thats when the lay the careless driving speech on ya, make sure you wipe off any tire shrouds stuck in your wheel arches cause theyll give ya a headache about that as well.
Did you get any axle hopping when it happened (as in did you hear that jumping vibrating noise from the rear?)
I have had 1 blown diff and 1 sheared axle, the blown diff happened because the main assembly pin wasnt put in and the diff centre collapsed on me
let us know how you go

Nope... cause i had the traction control off (not a burnout!... really!!), there was a small amount of wheel spin once i hit 2nd, and it was that that did it.... Ford didnt ask any questions. They were fine about it...
Ford have the axle out and are waiting for the new one to arrive tomorrow.
Anyway, i didnt buy a XR8 to drive below 2000rpm everywhere :)
