BA XR8/FPV Owners - Have you suffered axle breakages?
I was reading another thread about the above topic and became concerned. I thought I'd get some numbers to see how common this problem might be...
I have a manual XR8 and launch it hard only occasionally, and have had no issues so far. But sounds like others might have been less lucky...

It's an interesting problem. For all the people that are having massive and (understandably) upsetting dramas with their new cars, there are also plenty of people driving around in perfectly good ones with no problems whatsoever.
I just pray Ford (or Holden, Toyota etc) dont jerk around their customers and give people the satisfaction they deserve.

i have had this problem, and i do drive my car hard, well why did i buy it to look at it, no way, i enjoy every minute of the car except when the rear axle sheered, it also broke my ego in half ,all my relo's in melbourne were having a good laugh but hey it got me centre of attention, after the wedding reception i had to remind everyone to congratulate the bride and groom, everyone wanted to know what happened, bit of an embarrasement for me and ford, but ford got my car back on the road by monday 2pm.
the only other problem i have is the amount of fuel i can go through with this car, its a bit rediculous.

Mine hasn't broken but if I go hard around corners I sometimes get what seems to be a bit of diff chatter. My first XR8 was perfect though, no noises, clunks or chatter.

Likewise no problems at all.
Cheers John
