Hi folks,
I am expecting delivery of my XR8 this month (August) and was wondering what sort of economy you can expect when you are just using the car for transport from A to B. Reason I ask is that sometimes the XR8 will have to do duty as the family car and I was curious how it would be on fuel for normal city/country driving, when your not being too heavy with the right foot.

Hopefully a few of you here have a few of Km's on your XR8 and might know.... that is if you have ever considered driving your car 'normally'. Expect that could be a problem for me in the first couple of months anyway.:s6:

Hi Dan,

If you do a search of the forum you will find a Thread started by me that asked the exact same question. This was a little while ago so some of the cars would have higher kays and probably getting better comsuption. I haven't got an XR8 yet, but I drove one for a nite a month ago with about 13000 km on the clock and was driving normal with hard acceleration at every set of lights. By the end of the nite the avg litres per 100km was 14.5

Normal for me is anywhere from 18 to 22L per 100k for city driving. Lightfooted driving brings around 16 odd L/100k.

Out of curiosity how many litres does a tank take?

The tank holds 68 litres according to the manual. Although it seems not many XR8 owners have that much in there for too long.

I usually hover around the 16lt/100km mark, but last weeks tank went to 330km's at halfway, and is now nearly empty with 490km's. That driving has included mostly highway use, but included a night of spirited crusing agaisnt the LS1 boys which was up over 20lt/100

Depends on your foot, rev the gears out more and you'll use more juice, but V8's were never intended for fuel economy anyway

I seem to average around 18l/100k's.
But it is driven like an XR8 should.

On a similar note, how many km's until the consumption settles down to a consistant level?

I'm at 800km, and the consumption is still improving.
