YES! But i've learnt to live with it. I have also noticed another whigning noise, but I assume that this is from the 4 cams and it being a multi-valve thing?

Mine's the same Minge, and I was worried about it initially.
Thought it might have been low on fluid, but no. Sounds so lound, a mate thought I had straight cut gears in the motor FFS.
i think you will find the wollop noise to be hitting the steering lock. should try not to hit that hard. no matter what you do with the fluid it wont change! sorry. As for noise from the power steering, there really shouldn't be. it is a problem and always has been even in previous models. get it looked at. only time it should get noisy which is normal is cold startup in below -10 conditions and at very high engine speeds at gear changes for some reason. hope this helps. don't put up with things that are wrong. thats just silly

Have you driven a .... GT lately....
Now I just remembered what the whigning noise sounds like a bit (as I mentioned before). It sounds like gear drives, does anyone else hear this, or is it just me? Harasan? Any ideas?

hi laminge, a bloke at work had his XR8 power steering pump replaced after about 3000 kms, but had to talk to the top ford people to get it done, as the dealer he goes to said its normal some of these FORD SERVICE managers are taking notes from the holden book of rules
oh yeah, he had other issues, but im not here to cause shit
My power steering is not noticeable at all. Even at cold. However, I notice that the steering is harsh when it arrives at full lock (i.e. clunks at end of travel).
