Barra owners, what would you change?

No doubting the Barra is one hell of a good car, although no car if perfect. List what changes / improvements you would like to see here.

1. Foot rest please.
2. A better 5 speed Manual (I'd be happy with the Getrag from my VX)
3. Less chimes and bells.(this happened to me last night) The car was low on fuel (less than 80km) 1 chime. I reversed out without my seatbelt on. 2nd chine. As I was reversing I had to stop and go inside the house, left the car running and opened the door (chime 3) turn the car off and leave the lights on (chime 4) We were laughing as one chime came on after the other.
4. More feel and travel in the celebrator, she feels as dead as a doornail.
5. Less driveline snatching, It seems really loose, might be that old T5 again though.
6. Standard Traction control (as per VX on S packs)
7. Standard 4 elect windows (as per VX on S packs)
8. Standard side airbags (as per VX on S packs)

Fix those and you would have what I would consider to be damn close to the perfect car.

My summary on the VX
1. The engine!!! dont even insult it by comparing it to the DOHC IL6
2. The FE2 Suspension. Who designed it? a dentist? Loose fillings it's so hard and bumpy.
3. Rear end. Datsun 120Y, hello! Since driving the BA I now know why IRS is a good thing.

The VX was NOT perfect, but had some good points.

Re: Barra owners, what would you change?

BA's could do with the following things,

1. Better attached front and back bumper, i dunno whats holding them on, but from what ive seen not very much.
2. Power windows all the way around on all models, those winders in the back just look cheap!
3. Accelerator needs some work, when youve got the cruise control on, its sometimes wierd to get the car to speed up to over take???
4. LED brake light for back window, that would look much better then old one, and might be easier to tint around.
5. Better Brake Discs, that arent likely to get shudder in them after 6000kms.
6. Premium Sound cheap --> they are ripping us off.
7. 18 inch alloys standard for XR8.
8. A SV8 competitor with atleast 240 kw Boss motor for around $40 grand, this would sell well i think.
9. Visible Exhaust tip on lower models and Fairmont/Ghia.
10. Parking Sensors for the front bumper.
11. Better foglamp system for Fairmont/Ghia/XT/Futura.
12. New Keypads - I rather the AUII style, they just seem to be stronger.
13. Better mobile phone presenter.
14. Side Airbags Standard on Futura upwards.
15. Headlight Delay or AUTO function like Holden, makes it easier to see when your car shed is like 100 metres from your house.
16. Better sounds system optoin - 10 indash CD maybe?
17. V8 Option in Futura.

"9. Visible Exhaust tip on lower models and Fairmont/Ghia. "

hey!
I really LIKE the "hidden exhaust" look. Not for the sports models of course, they need big fat chrome drainpipes, but on luxos and family hacks the no-exhaust trick loosk real good.

Read the whole thread, he's pointed out the bad points on the VX too!

Re: Barra owners, what would you change?

i'd prefer a smaller 'key set'. By that i mean, the alarm and key is just too bulky. Surely they could make it smaller.

Fix the 'pool collector' boot. After washing, there's enough water sitting in the boot recess to rehidrate a camel.

Also on the subject of cleaning, it's impossible to chamais the front grill on the XR to dry. I dont know where the water keeps coming from, but it does.
