Just posing a little question and perhaps setting a little challenge to a few.

Given that the BF-I6 4 speed auto has improved fuel economy without any
significant hardware changes over the BA.

Will flashing standard BF-I6 code into a BA-I6 4 speed improve fuel consumption?

the engines have different compression ratios and camshaft timing etc.....

i don't think it'll work????

Definately won't work. Hardware needs to be upgraded as well as software.

get an edit mate.. that'll improve your power, torque and fuel economy.

for me it took my economy from about 16.2L/100km to about 15.8.
(3.73 diff).... about 25kms more from every tank.

dawal5, you must have a heavy foot because that is pretty bad. I get between 10.8 and 11.5l/100km.

bear in mind mate that was with the 3.73 diff... i was getting more like 14 before that.
(a fairmont would have the 3.23)

and i live in the dandenongs... lots of hills.

and yes.. i a bit of a lead foot. *sigh*

still.. hills+lead foot = fun

btw your figure is that for city or hwy driving.. it's damned good.

anyone know if the edit will work on the BF? I've got a BA, but would like to know if the same flasher will work on the BF. Anyone know yet?

should do... i'd say that the computer is pretty much the same, just with a different program on it.
