G'day everyone... I plan to purchase a ute (perhaps second hand) soon and would appreciate anyones advice/comments on the choice of an BA XR8

I would prefer to get a manual. Although fuel costs are not the greatest consideration when buying a performance car - if I'm going to get one, then I may as well minimise such costs - so can anyone give me some real life fuel figures for their XR8's??? Are the figures as bad as the journo's make out? The window stickers at dealers tend to vary quite a bit, as does every single review I read.

I have an XR8 sedan (manual) & get around 17 to 18l/100 city driving. On the highway I get around 11l/100, but I have only done 6000kms and I'm told economy (and power) improves up to around 10000kms.
I am wrapt with the fuel economy - it gives me about double what my old XC was!!
Go ahead & get one, I'm sure you wont be disappointed.... Once you drive one, the sheer joy of driving it will outweigh any worries about fuel costs.

Mine is 350 ks old and gets 19l/100 .. I am sure it will reduce down.
I love my xr8 and I agree with GXL Guy, you won't be disappointed.

mine seems to be opposite...the more kms i do the worse it gets lol...

I thought you said a perfomence ute. There is a pursuit 250 ute in a car yard in Sydney for $39000 Black, hard cover, leather trim, imac condition, Now thats a performance ute!!!!
