Buying an EL.
Hey Guys,
Well I think the time has come to say goodby to my poor tired old EA Fairmont Ghia. It's just begining to be a pain. I've owned it for just over 6 months, and they have been the most expensive 6 months of my life!
It seems as if one problem after another just rolls in. I've replaced the motor with a second hand one, but I now I have a contantly tapping lash adjuster and the timing chain sounds as if it's about to let go. I love my car to bits, but I just don't have the time to spend on it that I did while I was still at school.
These are the things that come to mind that I've fixed.
S5 Solenoid
Rear springs/shocks
Fuel Pump
Extention housing oil seal
Motor (due to worn rings)
Injectors
Oxy sensor
ACT Sensor
4spd > T5 (wasn't essential, but a clutch was dying in the auto)
Trailing arm bushes
Radiator
I am probably going to upgrade to an EL or even AU, but I'm unsure of the sort of finances I will be able to obtain. What are some common EL/AU problems? I don't want to have to spend money on it all the time! I know any sort of car is going to cost me money, but I just want something a bit newer and a bit more reliable. Seeing the Ghia go is going to be a sad day, but in the long run, I think I'll be glad.
