Re: A car for $1000
Plenty of tidy ones out there for $1000. A mate just sold a mint looking red XF 250 carb/4 speed manual for $500, awesome paintwork, one spot of rust the size of a 10c piece near the boot, interior brown and slightly rough. Needed 2 tyres for roadworthy. XD-XF Falcons are pretty cheap for what they are, I think.
If you're not hung up on Fords, there's lots of good (well, as good as these things can be) Sigma's/Corona's/old skool Corolla's/Galants for that sort of price range. Shop around and don't be in a hurry to buy.
Noticed a few roadworthy Kingswoods around lately for the $1000-1200 mark. You wouldn't expect much for that sort of price, but they are a big reliable cruiser that you can fit 5-15 people in and still tow a car trailer.
D'oh... just noticed you said only Fords... I stand by XD-XF Falcons. Lasers are overpriced (in my opinion), decent Cortina's are getting harder to find, Escorts are either expensive or rooted...
