Well i have had enough with my EA series II door locks and brought a 4 door central locking kit from brisbane car sound for $28. It took about 4 hours to fully install it and I am quite happy with the outcome. Although the back doors are pricks when locating the motors and running the wiring loom. I noticed that the EA's must have had a recall because my car had aluminium guards pop riveted in over the rear door locks for anti-theft purposes which was badged 11/91. The car was built in 10/89. Anyone seen this security mod before because it made locating the central locking motors a real prick.
Cheers Luke.

Dear Luke,
because here in Sydney it is my job to do things like central locking I really dont believe that the cover was placed there for security purposes with the rivets..The rivets are more a time saving cost cutting ploy.Normally in alot of cars you can remove and discard theses covers. Then it makes the job alot easier.
I'm pretty sure the cover which is made out of sheet metal not (aluminium) is to stop people from putting a coat hanger down through the rubber at the quarter panel window and thus manipulating the rear door lock. If I was to remove it, it would be shit easy to break into the car. I just bent them a little bit and put the motors behind them.
Cheers Luke.

My wifes old ea was broken into real easy..But I wont mention here in case others see it. All ea b etc are too easy to get into unfortunately.
My EL wagon had a cover like that over ONE of the rear doors. I was going mad trying to get around it to take off the door handle. In the end I had to get out the cordless drill, and upon pulling the cover out I smashed it beyond recognition and threw it as far as I could.

No there not loud at all, my dad's EB fairmont work car is a lot louder. But probably give it a few years and the motors will get tired and they will probably start making a bit of noise.
Cheers Luke.
