Clicking steering rack

Was enjoying a day of using the old mans BA Fairmont and i noticed a problem....

The steering constantly clicks when you dry steer (and at very low speeds). Has anyone else had this problem on their cars? Does that mean the steering rack is likely to lunch it?

Just seems a pity. Parking the car in the city today and people looking at a brand new BA becuase it is making a strange noise! Apart from that, it put a huge smile on my face!

Re: Clicking steering rack

Have any of you guys/gals(no pun intended, just being politically correct)had your vehicles back for the steering recall?? Could have something to do with this.

Re: Clicking steering rack

XR6HP01, No. Sadly it's a BA exclusive concern. The difference between an AU rack and a BA rack is that they've done away with any external adjustments on the BA.And they're .2 of a turn less from lock to lock.
