snowmonkey Registered User Join Date: Apr 2009 Posts: 1	Coasting in Neutral BA Falcon semi-auto Is it possible to coast in neutral with a standard BA Falcon with the 4 speed semi-auto transmission? I now the road-safety arguments regarding this and I know the fuel economy marginal saving arguments so it is just a technical question. Some auto transmissions cannot be coasted in neutral because the transmission fluid pump only operates while the transmission is in gear so you will seize the transmission. Some transmission fluid pumps are driven by the motor running so it is technically safe to coast in neutral i.e. you will not damage the transmission.
