Question Cold idle speed

Guys, I've got an '89 Spac - 3.9 CFI - 5 speed. When starting from cold, it used to idle around 1,000 rpm then drop back to 750-800 as it warmed up. Now, cold idle speed is around 600. Starts OK, just a pain when cold until it warms up. Any ideas ?

Re: Cold idle speed

well it may just be a sign of age....assuming its the original engine.....it is 15 years old......maybe its starting to get a bit long in the tooth?? Perhaps you may just have to tough it out and wait for the engine to warm up......unless you want to get a rebuild down the track.....

Re: Cold idle speed

Let any car get to operating temperature before you drive it, and if you do need to drive it straight away, be nice to it..

Re: Cold idle speed

Go MPFI, CPFI is a waste of time. I converted my car 2months ago because the CPFI system was giving me the shits. Just the sight of that big ugly black tennis raquet air cleaner made me want to throw up literally. For a 1989 model car it is a prehistoric injection system.

Cheers Luke.
