Coupe owners

I have just scored a 11/73 XB GT coupe and I'm puzzled by some things on it.Inside the door openings under the striker are plastic grilles which look like some sort of internal air vents. My two other coupes (1974 & 1975) don't have these.Do XA coupes have them, and is it possible that this is a carryover from XA that they stopped doing sometime during XB?
The other weird thing is no rear window demister or switch.I was under the impression that these were standard on every XB.The final item is the tacho.Should an XB GT have a 7000 or 8000rpm tacho?Any theories or even correct answers will be appreciated.

Re: Coupe owners

I have a 09/72 Coupe and it has the vents in the door openings that you speak of But both of the 07/75 Gosses dont, also there is a change in the rear corner marker light angle between the two Gosses.

Very Strange Stuff.

Re: Coupe owners

Can't say for sure on the vents, I've seen a mixture of both. The XBs did not have 8000 rpm tacho's though. They ran out half way through the XAs.

Re: Coupe owners

As far as I know the heated rear glass didn't start happening till '74 or '75. Not sure exactly when but I do know that early XB's didn't have it at all.

I used to have a '73 build XB 351 sedan that didn't have the heated glass. This was a really early build and was registered on the day XB's were released which (if my memory serves me right) was September 1973.
