Just struck a thought here. What sort of rust would render a coupe irrepairable? As in what places...Door pillar etc.

Most rust on a coupe or any car can be fixed it just depends on how much you are willing to spend. The only really dangerous places is the front box chassy. And the main inner frame or Structure of the car

The value of the car dictates how much you would be willing to spend on rust repairs example you wouldn't spend 10 thou on a car that was worth 5thou unless it was a sentimental thing.

It is totally up to you how far you want to go!!!!!!!!!

Our cobra is a perfect example it had ALOT of rust see pics
The amount it cost to repair our cobra it should have been reshelled but for obvious reasons we didn't do that.

That's a doozy of a restoration!! How could anyone let such a car go so badly??

What would a Cobra in that condition be worth? There was one on e-bay not long ago which was a shitter, or at least needed a bare shell resto, that ended up going for what I thought was ridiculous money, something like $17K.

We Paid 4990 for our car so i guess that you would expect to pay about that maybe a little more now that the value of them has gone up, 17k was a bit much but if someone wants to pay that then by all means it only increases the value for the rest of us owners.

If you are talking about the same one on Ebay (Was being sold in Victoria) it did seem very overpriced, but apparently the sale has fallen through. The car was running on Duel fuel as well as being pretty dull in the body stakes. The end of the day though it's down to the bloke who's prepared to pay that much for it. I know I wouldn't, Cobra or not.

he offered it to me for $10000 and he would cancel the ebay auction but i knocked it back as it needed a bit of work. did have the original block though it was converted from 302 to a 351.

Hi JG33, it does look that way funny thing is the car was from Traralgon which is no were near any water at all, It was a case the original owner bought it new and then after a couple of years that he decided to use it as a paddock basher he wrecked 3 spoilers chasing kangas and bunnys.

hubby has been told by alot of people that they would be up to their 3rd pair of runners just running away from the car but he saw the potential in the car and brought it back to what it is today.

Nice work Cobra_287. That would have taken a lot of commitment and money to repair. The rust on my coupe is'nt nearly as bad as that thank god. Did you give the previous owner a swift kick in the arse for the rape and pillage it inflicted on that car?

Hey Cobra 287, was this car featured in a magazine some time ago ? Its sonds alot like somthing Ive read before. There was a 4.9 Cobra even worse than that kiking around here a few years ago, it was in a terible state.
