Hi all the cruise control on my wifes ED XR6 has a bit of a problem you have to keep pressing the set button to get it to work, and then its real hard to turn off, and when it is on you dont have to hit a very big bump to turn it off. i hav'nt started pulling things apart yet hopefully someone will know the trick. Thanks

try carefully pop the buttons apart, and clean the contacts underneath, just a dry lint free cloth (can use a tissue, just be nice)

I had the same problem with my old ED. I tried to clean up the contacts, it lasted a little while, but then came back.
I just ended up getting a new button, i think it cost me about $100. Wasnt too hard to put in.

Best way to clean the contacts is to slide a piece of paper in between the button and the base.
Press down on the button softly and remove the paper slowly.
This works, i have done it several times, dont what ever you do rty to open the buttons, they break very easy and are very hard to get.

The contacts are carbon, and with use the polish up the opaper is abrasive enough to remove the shine without damaging the contact.

My mate had a similar problem in his fairlane, it turned out to be a problem with the brake light switch. When the brake light switch is engaged, the cruise cannot set. His also turned off over bumps. It wasnt until we followed him in another car and had to call him grampa for riding the brake when driving along at 80... however, he was not riding the brake, just the switch was engaged.

The Pnuematic switch's on the brake and clutch pedals can be adjusted, as they can move over times.
