Daily driver

I use my Falcon 500 as a daily driver. I'm curious to see which has more respect, a nice showcar or a nice daily driver. Who else out there uses their classic everyday? I personally have more respect for a car that is being used, because it usually gets flogged and that's when you can tell when a person takes care of it by maintaining it. Thankfully I have a safe place to park her while I'm working. I run 2 immobilisers and a steering lock, but I'm always worried about some young punk trying to steal it or break a window because he can't steal it. Anyone else out there face something similiar? Any advice?

Re: Daily driver

I use my XY as daily transport, but I work in town so I catch the bus... but yeah, I know what you mean about theft worries... Some pr!ck tried to flog my wheels. resulted in the rear one parting company at 110-120km/h on the way to the sunshine coast.... lock nuts for me now...

Re: Daily driver

i only use my XT every few weekends or so. i still have a top of the range alarm and a steering lock on all the time. the only reason i drive it so rarely is the poor consumption:)

cars are built as transport
highly polished and painted under carriage, mirrors and fake smoke are fine for those that want to
give me a very clean every day driver any day
out here in the sticks theft dosn't really present a problem. roos and stray cattle do

Re: Daily driver

I did use my Mustang as a daily driver for a while, but my parking arrangements at work aren't that secure and I couldn't bring myself to drive it in rain & hail conditions.

Re: Daily driver

Mine is a weekend cruiser mainly but if I need to go somewhere during the week after work and I rather not take my work ute then I'll use the XC.

Re: Daily driver

I was driving my mustang daily (rain hail or shine...) until a minor accident, now I'm in the process of doing some upgrades whilst the damage is fixed.

I don't run wheel caps on my car, cause they cost me too much to replace, and it is quicker to steal them than it is to install them.

Re: Daily driver

If I can leave my XW at work and know it would be safe there I would drive it daily, but this is not the case, so I very rarely drive her, it's finding the time to drive her that's the problem, weekend's are the only time I have and they can be very busy at time's.

So you think Gary Myer's is a wank then, I think not, some people take great pride in their vehicle's and spend shitload's off money, if they want a polished undercarrige and the work's and they are willing to take the maintenance that goes with it, then so be it, I'd love to have half the quality off some of these vehicle's on my XW.

Re: Daily driver

I've been using this ZC Fairlane since 1990:

4 Engines:
302C - big valves - Torker Single Plane Manifold - Holley Mech Sec 450cfm Spreadbore
250 Log Head from XB with C4
250 2V with C4
4.1 Alloy Head II from 87 XF (so I can easily - read cheaply - run Unleaded without additives)

3 Paint Jobs:
White with original green roof with Contact Glue from vinyl baking in the sun.
Silver Hammer Finish with white bumpers & grille
Black and White Bluesmobile

I'm thinking of going all white with Cobra stripes....

Henry Rules OK!
