I'm just trying to settle an argument here. Did Ford detune the XR8 at all? I know they detuned the XR6t, but how 'bout the XR8?
Well based on past experience, the GT will come out with a new engine (my guess is 330kW (atmo)) and the XR8 will get the BOSS 290.
There is always more room for development in an engine, and it would have been silly for Ford to produce the maximum power (kw or Nm) an engine can immediately. Take a look at the AU range of XR8's.
So my guess is:
BA XR8 = 260kW
BA GT = 290kW
BA XR6T = 240kW
BAII XR8 = 280-290kW
BAII GT = 310-330kW
BAII XR6T = 260kW
What you always gotta think about is that forced induction is ALWAYS easier to get more power out of over an atmo engine. The more air and fuel you can burn per cycle gives you more power, its really pretty easy equation :)
Anyway, thats my two cents. I don't want a GT until they come with a blower ;-)

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Here is wisdom.
Let him that hath understanding count the number of the BEAST:
for it is the number of a F6 Typhoon; and its number is 0217.
I'd say when Ford were developing the Boss they would have seen numerous power output's,thus deciding on 260kw for the start of the series,this amount will rise in future model's,I think the real question we should be asking is,
Is the Boss 260 really 260 kw.

The factory spec PCM tune is woeful. Deliberate? Most likely - another way to cotton-wool the drivetrain and give them more ways to avoid replacing busted bits.

Clicky clicky here for previous ride! I still miss her!
The Boss 260 is deffinately 260kw. I've had mine dynoed twice. The first time with 2500km it recorded 213rwkw the second time with 4500km it was 222rwkw. That was for an auto on two different dynoes. A manual with 9000km recorded 227rwkw on the same day. They definately make the quoted power but they need to have a few thousand k's on them before they really start loosening up. For example a manual BA GT with 1500km's on it recorded only 236rwkw, with a lot more to come once its fully run in.
Hmmm, exciting stuff. Was worrying me about Holden upgrading their engines and hearing this means we will be beating them in kW for quite some time now.

So your saying your Auto(which use's more power compared to a manual)only lost 15% in drivetrain,I would have thought a 300fwkw would acheive what you state you have in rwkw,have you done any mod's to get 222rwkw,I'm sorry but I personally dont delve into Dyno readout's to much unless it's for seeing what gain's were made from any mod's done frequently in other word's a true comparison,cheer's.
