Disabling warning tones on BA XR8

Does anyone know how to silence the seat belt warning and low fuel warnings without cutting wires or punching a screwdriver through the dash?

The low fuel warning gives me the shits. How many times do you need to be told you are low on fuel? How dumb does Ford think we are? 3 warning tones and a warning light is overkill. I used to own an XH ute and that had a warning light only which did the job perfectly.

Before I get accused of not wearing a seat belt, the reason I want the seat belt warning off is because part of my job involves driving at slow (10-20kmh) speeds on private property (zero traffic) and getting in and out of the car regularly and putting on the belt is annoying. The thing also starts beeping before i'm halfway down the driveway.

Suggestions anyone?

To disable the seatbelt warning try this: 1 Buckle the seatbelt, 2 Set ignition switch to on position ( do not start engine ) 3 Press & hold the hazard switch, 4 Unbuckle , then buckle the seatbelt, 5 release the hazard swich. Then cycle the ignition key & go for a drive to test. Good luck.

I was going to try and be witty and say... hmm, put some petrol in it and click your seatbelt up behind you instead of over you.

Just click the seatbelt in for a second and then release it. The sound will not come back on if the car stays running.

Thanks Spalding Green, your method did the trick.

Why does Ford fit these silly alarms? Its a Ford, not a Volvo

Now, does anybody know how to turn off the low fuel warnings?
